  • Minnesota Ice Fly-in March 7 2015

There has been lots of buzz about our yearly winters end ice runway fly-in on Lake Mille-Lacs. I'm sure most of you have heard stories. The date has been set and this year the fly-in will be 3-7-2015 at Twin Pines resort on the west side of Lake Mille-lacs. This will be the third year of this event. 2013 87 aircraft made it. Last year over 100. This year will be even bigger. The runway will be plowed and clearly marked with plenty of ice ramp parking. There will many prizes given away with the grand prize being a Tanis engine heater. A great lunch at Twin Pines and great people. I don't think it is a stretch to say that this is the premier ice fly-in in the country. 10:00-3:00

Thanks for putting this out there Mark, it was good to make it last year even though I was after most of the festivities. Won't be able to come this year due to being grounded by foot surgeries for a bit yet. Enjoy!

If anyone in the twin cities wants to go let me know. I have an empty back seat and I know a lot of other people with empty seats.

Just putting it out there: We are in need of volunteers that would be willing to help direct traffic and parking of aircraft on the ramp. aka plowed portion of the ice. I also was told today because of the number of aircraft expected, when they plow the runway they will also be plowing a parallel taxiway. It is quite the site last year at one point for over an hour we landed one plane per minute.
