  • Cold Lake, Alberta Bearhawkers

    Good day all,

I'm looking for Bearhawkers in the Cold Lake, Alberta area who might be willing to provide some time-on-type.

It looks like my QB 4-place will be ready to fly this July and I'd like to get a little stick time prior to the first flight. This should help appease the insurance company and set conditions for a successful 'Phase 1'.

FWIW I'm an Experimental Test Pilot for the Air Force - so in theory I should be pretty low-risk to fly with.

Unfortunately, I can't trade for rides in any military hardware, but I'll happily cover any costs and buy lunch.

    Cheers,

    - Paul

    Paul,

Tell us about the QB process.. How long did it take? Pictures? How did you equip it?, engine choices, eat.

I'm having the plane built by Steve at Aerolite Flight Services, so I don't have much to say about the QB process itself.

The engine is an IO-540 from Bob running 8.5:1 compression with dual mags. Prop is an 84", 2-blade MT. Exhaust is by Vetterman with dual mufflers for uber-heat during our Alberta winters.

I'm running standard fuel tanks (no aux fuel).

The plane is set-up for day/night IFR with the following:

      2-screen legacy G3X EFIS
      Dynon D6 backup
      GTN-650 GPS/NAV/COMM
      GTR-225 COMM
      GX-Pilot autopilot
      GTX-23 ES remote transponder
      GDL-39 for ADS-B
      PMA 5000EX audio panel
      Dynon heated pitot

      All lights are AeroLEDs

Trim is electric using a Ray-Allen unit wired to Infinity Grips

The electrics are being run through a VP-X Pro system, with a second 'old school' bus for some higher draw items like the heated seats.

I don't have many recent pics as Steve is pretty busy trying to get things ready for July, but I'll have a look though my files and see what I can dig up.

      Cheers,

      - Paul

Paul, I'm set up to offer dual flight instruction for transition training in our 4-place Bearhawk, but it is in North Carolina.
