  • Wisker antennea

I have my wisker antenna mounted on top of vertical stab, pointing towards the rear, but I just noticed Ron Jones pointed his forward. ...anyone know which is proper or if it makes a difference?

I don't know about the reception difference between the two, but the risk of poking your eye on the antenna end is quite real. You might try both directions and see if one is better for that reason. I try and stick tennis balls on mine when I'll be working in that area.

Shouldn't be any difference in reception. Look on a busy ramp some day and you will see the big names mount them either way. Generally they are mounted with the tips facing back over the tail for eye protection.

On a VOR ant, if the tips are pointing forward, it will be a little more directional it that direction. I would want the max range of the VOR in the front, not the rear, but some people may like it the other way.
