  • Bearhawk Grey Epoxy Paint

I need to touch up some areas on the fuse and gear in Bearhawk Grey. What expoxy paint is everyone using? I have Spectrum Coating #2068 SG Grey Epoxy Mil C 22750D Type 1 FS 59526492 Part A Base and Part B Catalyst, but it says shelf life is 1 year and I got it in 2006. I think I got it from Mark so I think its the right color. It sure looks like a match. The paint looks fine to me but I do not know if the stuff spoils in a can or not. Also, since I am doing just very minor touch up with an art brush, do I need to thin it? The can says it should be thinned with Mil T 827772 Type II thinner. Is this really necessary for the epoxy to do its things and bond ?

David - the little cans you have are of the epoxy top coat - not the primer. Most any primer will do underneath this top coat. Mix it one to one with maybe 1/2 part of lacquer thinner. I would mix a little and give it a try. See if it dries and sticks. If it is past date and doesn't work - let me know I have plenty more from a more recent batch of paint. Mark
