  • Lost my building partner

Lost my build partner this past Friday. He was a 14 year old English pointer that spent much time in the shop with me. When I was doing bench work he was always at my feet. When the noise started he left, when it stopped he came back. He kept the rats and the bad guy's away and never asked for anything in return. Don't even want to go back out to the shop. I know it will pass but if you have a building partner, whatever it's species, give them a little extra love this Christmas cause it sure hurts when they leave you.

Sorry for the loss Gerry. Lost our Airedale this fall - hunting buddy / rodent guard. He would never set foot in my shop or hangar, even though invited, but he was always right outside the door.

I lost my 15 year old french brittany in July, still isn't the same in the shop without her sleeping on the floor next to me. She is in a better place now.

Gerry, sorry for your loss. I can certainly empathize with you. Some of the hardest times of my life, is making a humane decision for the best friend possible. I've been through it 4 times now, and it never gets easier. It's hard just to write this. After the last time, I wasn't sure I could get another dog, but one of my daughter's neighbors, had a litter of yellow labs. I made the intentional mistake of going over there to see them. I have had the newest best buddy for the last five years. Cooper, aka "The Coop", has been a great decision for me. He is spoiled like a grand-kid, but deserves it. The years fly by, and I know he won't be around for long, so I ensure being his best friend too. Regards. Scott.
