  • Fuel tank wing skin arrangement

At the outboard, forward corner of the fuel tank bay, 3 pieces of wing skin come together. Has anybody trimmed one of the skins back in this area to make a tidier union of skins?

It doesn't look so bad when it's all finished, but I don't think missing one rivet would break the wing, either.

I cut a corner out of the top layer for the tank cover to nest into. See attached pic. This may be too late, but I've been off the forum while I traveled for the last few months.

If you take this approach, be sure to leave enough clearance to prevent the two surfaces touching. Else it might "smoke" a little, after a couple of hundred hours flight time.
