I have recently purchased an LSA QB kit and will be needing tail wires. I have called Steen Aero and discovered that I am the first in a new group that needs 5 buyers to get the group rate. So if anyone else wants to join in, please do so. No telling how long it may take to get 5 orders toatal. Fortunately there are plenty of other things to be doing in the meantime.

Hi Ivan here are some pictures of my wire against a ruler to give you an idea of the approximate length. The longer streamlined wires are the top wires and the shorter ones are the bottom wires. I didn't have this info when I was looking for my wires and it would have been a great help, as you know the plans are lacking in many important details. You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Tail wire options(mainly regarding the four place) were pretty well hashed over in this thread
Say I don't want to pay ~$800 for streamline tail "wires". The remaining options are to use at 1/4" dia end-threaded rod per the plans or a 5/32
The LSA plans call for 10-32 wires as do most production planes of similar ilk.
Available stock wire lengths can be found in these links:
A Citabria upper wire ( http://www.univair.com/aeronca/contr...ailbrace-wire/ ) is streamlined and 48.56" long with 10-32 threads(nominal 3/16")so it might work for the upper 49" wire.
This non-streamlined Cub wire( (http://www.univair.com/piper/piper-j...ailbrace-wire/ ) is 41.5" long(again 10-32 threads, (nominal; 3/16" diameter) so might work for the lower 40" wire
I used these on my scratch built with forged "Bob ends" and, similar to Dave's experience with the Brunton wires. had to trim them to length.
It is completely up to the builder to discuss this with Bob.
