Primer, fuel that is, not paint

The fellow helping me build my engine says I don't need a primer system with a fuel injected engine. Just open the throttle and hit the electric pump to prime it. It has been so long since I have flown a fuel injected plane, I can't remember if it had a primer or not. Would be nice to have one less system to fabricate, I need advice from those experienced with flying behind fuel injected engines.

That is correct, primers are for carbs.
