Has anyone ever tried Gurney Flaps on a Bearhawk? If so, what were the results?

  • #2
Yes. I posted the results in a thread a year or two ago. I can't remember exactly, but I already had VG's on my wings and tail. If I remember, my stall speed dropped very slightly, maybe 1-2 knots and sink rate with full flaps increased a lot. I took them off after testing them and don't miss them.

Mike talks about his gurney flaps during his walk around video. The video starts at 23:25.

My use of the gurney flaps are for trimming purpose only...not as a lift enhancement device for the wing.
For trimming purpose, they work very well and are smaller than a regular trim tab. I have one on my rudder and one on my right aileron, which I describe in my video. Mike.
    Working...
