I've been talking with a new Bearhawk owner whose insurance folks aren't doing him any favors. They are requiring him to have a checkout in the airplane, which is quite reasonable, but they are saying that the instructor has to have 25 hours in type, which is is rather absurd. I can only think of around 3 people who meet this standard in the US, but hopefully there is someone else out there who I'm not thinking of. I'm an instructor and I have 25 hours in type, but I'm not really set up for instruction in non-owned airplanes. Can anybody think of anyone who might be willing to do the checkout and that has 25 in type? Please get in touch if you know of any leads.
