I’m trying to find a high temperature sealant to use on my heat muff. I need a seal in two places:
1. A baffle that forces the air to flow the long way around the muffle. My first attempt was a piece of silicon engine baffle seal. I foolishly didn’t look up the spec and assumed it would be in the 600-700F neighbor like other silicon products I’ve used. It is only rated for 425F completely burned way.
2. A caulk like sealant to seal where the muff clamps onto the muffler. I used permatex high temp red RTV. It is rated for intermittent temps of 650F but it burned away also.
I’d appreciate any recommendations or thoughts. I have yet to find suitable replacements.
