  • First Quarter 2021 Beartracks is out!

I've just sent out the latest issue of the Beartracks newsletter to email subscribers. Print copies will be in the mail shortly, and the content is also live at https://bearhawk.tips/category/beartracks/2021

This issue includes builder updates, an interesting story about the aerobatic biplane that Bob designed many years ago and how it influenced the Bearhawks, a collection of operational numbers for the Bearhawk 4-Place, updates about the first Bearhawk Companion, several questions from the "Ask Bob" series, and new seat attachment designs for the kits.

The next issue will come out at the end of June, and we welcome content from builders and flyers at all stages of the project! We are also looking for folks who might like to host another live video session to give a project tour. Let us know if you're interested in either of those.

If you are a subscriber and didn't receive your issue, please let me know and we'll sort it out! If you'd like to subscribe, you can do that here:

Thank you for your continued support!

Hi Jared ...I really enjoyed this Beatracks..

If we have more questions for Bob should we post them here?

Ok I have what might the stupidest question ever ...but Ive been wondering it...

Is it ok to have a flute in a spar flange...lets say you bend the aileron spar but you have a bow in the spar...can you add flutes to make it straight. does the flute destroy the spars strength?
reason why I ask this is.... we put tons of flutes in the ribs and they are like spars in the other direction with no ill effects..

Another question was....why do some planes have balanced rudders and others do not...as in the Bearhawks rudder is not balanced...Bearhawk elevators are thou...was wondering what decides such things...

    And another question :

I noticed that some of the wing tips that are being added are not just tips but add extra length to the wing ...extra physical 12 inches above the normal tips each side..... if the wing tip adds to the wing span does the spar need to be beefed up or top maneuvering speed lowered...
