Gap Between Aileron pocket ribs and top skin on original 4 place wing

We are skinning an original 4 place wing and when the pocket ribs are installed between the rear spar per the plans, there is a gap between the top skin and the the pocket rib. Is anyone installing a shim in this space, or just riveting it in as is.

Never noticed a gap.

It may just pull closed depending on the size? Pictures would help
