Does anyone have the numbers on needed fabric for a Companion or a 4 Place? I think it is in the neighborhood of 30 meters (Oratex is metric), but I need the breakdown below

I need a breakdown as I am using two different colors.

Silver for Flaps, Ailerons, Horizontal Stab and Elevators, so I need the square footage/square meters of these

Sky Blue for the Fuselage and and Rudder

My wings are still in crates, so no way I can measure the needed fabric for the ailerons and flaps.

If anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated

    Description P/N Quantity Unit
Heavy Duty Fabric (72" wide) 1-9970 13 yards
    Medium Fabric (72" wide) I-MEDIUM 23 yards
    Light Fabric LIGHT-U 4 yards
    Linear tape Med 1” x 25 yd 1-1031x25 1 roll
    Linear tape Med 3” x 25 yd 1-1033 1 roll
    Linear tape Med 2” X 50 yd 1-1032 3 roll
    Linear tape Med 4” x 25 yd 1-1034 1 roll
    3” bias tape 25 yard roll 1-BIAS3 1 roll
    Polytak 2-PT3 4 quarts
    Poly-Brush pink 2-PB4 4 gallons
    Poly-brush untinted 2-PBU4 1 gallons
    Poly-spray 2-PS4 5 gallons
    RR 8500 reducer/retarder 2-854 5 gallons
Std rib lacing thread, 8 oz, 400yd roll 1 roll
Reinforcing tape 3/8" roll 50 yds 1 roll
    Thermometer/Iron calibration 1 each
    HS silicone 1 oz
Inspection hole reinforcing ring 12-IHRR 10 each
Cloth adhesive (anti-chafe) tape roll 1-AC1 1 roll
12” straight tip rib needle 11-RN12 1 each
C-2210 pint sure cleaner 1 gallons
    Paint strainer cone 12 each
    Paint paddle 11-PP 6 each
Alimunium drain grommet, 1/4" hole 8 each
I ended up with less light fabric for the interior than I needed, just slightly, and excess heavy duty fabric. These quantities are not exact, but get you most of the way there. There isn't enough medium fabric for any big mistakes, only small ones.
    I didn't strain my paint.
    Colour not included.
You may also need some epoxy paint to undercoat certain things. You need a non-reactive base paint for some covering systems.
This doesn't exactly answer the questions, but it might be a starting point.

I just did a bunch of math on my surfaces. I am coming up with about 38 square meters in total. But I know there is extra as I am measuring in a rectangle configuration rather than a tapered fuselage.

Fuselage in Blue(figuring I go from the far stringer to the near bottom longeron obviously plus 2” on both times two)circumference is 160” with the overlap on the top stringers twice and the length is 150” which is 24,000 sq in
Rudder is 29” front to back, 56” tall times two = 3248 sq in
Bottom is 46” at the widest point and 150” long = 7200 sq in
This is 34,448 sq. in so 22.22 sq meters of blue

The smallest circumference of the fuselage is 76” from bottom longeron to bottom longeron across the top with the 2” extra again, I am thinking I could eliminate the rudder as the rudder could be covered from the “waste” of the side fabric as it tapers to the rear. This would eliminate 2 meters if this is doable.

So I am either at 22 or 20 sq meters of blue. This seems like a lot as the number I have read is in the of guys using oratex to cover their whole plane using 30-32 sq meters, but with the Companion I don’t have the rear doors, so more fabric.

Flaps, Ailerons, Horizontal, Elevator/Trim = 15.56 sq. meters, so 16 sq. meters of Silver Fabric. This much easier to gauge as they surfaces are much more linear.

      Does this seem about right?

I think when people say they used 30 meters of Oratex they are referring to using 30 meters of the 180 cm wide fabric. So more like 54 square meters. I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.

I spoke to Janina today (Better Aircraft Fabric) and they measure linearly in meters, but the wide roll is 72”

      Why mix?

Anyway, Lars is gonna have to call me. That being said, nothing is gonna happen until early January as Germany is on vacation…. Imagine that
