I was making one last check today, everything electrical including ground and power to all the EFI sensors. I don't think my starter solenoid was completely wired the first time I checked the basic electrical system, but the starter button sent 12v to the solenoid. It was all wired up today with the diode and everything. When I turn the master on, the start solenoid would engage without hitting the start switch. A little troubleshooting and it was getting the 12v from the diode.
I just wired the Van's supplied solenoid and diode the way everyone else seems too (I googled lots of pics). The diode cannot be reversed as the terminals are different sizes, and just to make sure I cut back the heat shrink to make sure the diode polarity was correct. I also tested the diode two different ways and it checks good. I never really gave it much thought but the way it is wired it SHOULD allow current to pass to the start switch terminal, and it does.
So my start wiring works, except that diode is allowing enough current to pass to the start terminal, and engage the start solenoid. I have seen enough wiring diagrams and google pics to see that I think I am doing it the way everyone else is.
Pretty simple stuff, but I am stumped. If I remove the diode, the start circuit works perfect.
