Thanks - very much appreciated. Yes they're certainly big projects, but worth every hour of build time and I enjoyed the process a lot. Grant built his in about a year. I think both of us had the advantage of building pretty much full time, but fair to say we got our inspiration from the build logs of many others who spent a few years on their projects and probably enjoyed it every bit as much. I remember a few years ago vicariously enjoying the photos and trip reports as I was tied to a full time job and waiting until the stars aligned and I was able to commence my own build.
Yesterday I flew to meet Battson (who was and still is a tremendous help and never tired of answering my many questions). Another Bearhawk was there too, but I didn't get a photo, hopefully Battson might add one of all three.
This afternoon I just had to head up one of the rivers and check out a small "tramping" (hiking) hut. There are literally thousands dotted all over NZ. The price is $5 per night and worth every cent too. They're pretty rustic, but the views are usually priceless. This one has its own airstrip - slightly sloping so something new for me to try. I'm planning to fly in soon for the night. Maybe another Bearhawk or two might turn up. You never know.
