I currently get a whole mess of magazines and I want to pick your brains about any that I am missing that would be helpful. Out of all I get Kitplanes is the one I look most forward to (and has the most sticky notes). Even though it is not homebuilding and I'm not a pilot yet, Aviation Safety is great for learning. Sport Aviation is ok too, but I feel Kitplanes really outshines it (I know EAA has more to cover than just us). Here's the list I have, please let me know which to add!

    Kitplanes
Beartracks, of course! I'll be starting this in January and getting the older ones when I can
    Sport Aviation
    Aviation Safety

both AOPA Pilot and Flight Training (got my husband to join for the second one, teehee!)
    Air & Space
    Women in Aviation magazine
    The 99s magazine
    Avionics News
Helicopter Mx and a couple other industry/trade ones I can't remember

PS I know there's a bunch of books I need to add to my library, but that will be a much later post. :P

I think you've got a great list started. Kitplanes has a couple of Bearhawk-related articles coming soon and you can find lots of good stuff in the archives. Aviation Safety is a great judgement-building tool. Beartracks is quite important of course.

EAA puts out the "Experimenter" electronically. I think it's included if you are an EAA member. I find it is geared toward homebuilding and look forward to it, with a lot of neat tips. Some of EAA's "hints for homebuilders" videos are good source of info....along with the guys on these forums make some very helpful videos.

Good list - I'd add EAA Experimenter

I find the articles in Kitplanes are extremely well written.

Opinion to follow: SA is ok, but it seems they only talk about Airventure, One Week Wonder, general aviation, and more Airventure. They really like talking about themselves. I just grabbed a random issue off my shelf, what's on the cover: A Lockheed Electra. ... Seriously??

I didn't know about Experimenter and I forgot about the videos. Thank you all!

As part of the EAA subscription are the online videos covering many aspects of building and operating aircraft, plus the Webinars. Another great section is Timeless Voices. They have many different individuals to include the old war-bird pilots and crews from WWII and on. Well worth watching and a great history lesson from people that were there. Should be mandatory viewing for each American generation.
