  • Wrong Nosebowl?

So, as I start to get serious about the cowl and finally start paying attention to the nose bowl I got with the kit, I see the flange is 14" in diameter...I need 13"...did I get a nose bowl for the BH 4?

The nose bowl you have fits most Hartzell constant speed props. Lots of folks who run fixed pitch props use the Vans spinner which I believe is smaller. I believe Bob's nose bowl fits the 13" spinner. You might evaluate whether it is easier to swap the spinner or nose bowl.

Your recent questions lead me to wonder if you haven't seen this section of the old kit builder manual?

This content should not be considered the most recent, but if there is not newer information from BHA conflicting with it, you might still find it useful.

No, I have it printed and sitting next to me. I have a Hartzell Trailblazer and the spinner bulkhead is 13" in diameter, so I guess the spinner itself adds another inch. Sorry for asking stupid questions

It's not a stupid question, certainly not if the guidance is wrong. I wonder if the Hartzell spinners have ordering options or if all of the Trailblazers have 13" spinners? I know our plane once had a trailblazer on it and that must have had a 14" spinner.

Unless I missed something in Mark's manual, there wasn't any guidance, but I should have been comparing the spinner diameter itself instead of the spinner bulkhead diameter. I ran out to the airport and the spinner diameter is 13.75", so I was just making a bad comparison. All's fine
