  • LSA instrument panel dimensions

While waiting for my LSA quick build kit due in mid-December I want to start playing with the free app “Panel Planner”. That site has many templates in their library but not the LSA. My plans don’t show any panel dimensions. Who out there could post these so I can forward to the app administrator to get the LSA included? Or what other apps do you know about that are free and relatively simple to use. I guess the height could vary a bit due to face angle settings but at least the major layout could be planned.

Wish I could help but I'm out of town, away from my LSA's panel.

Sounds like a question for Mark.

Yep I emailed Mark first and very unusually didn’t hear back right away—he’s probably busy with those Texas weather issues or getting our kits together!

Mark is gone to Mexico right now, so he may not be checking his email as much. I can measure my LSA panel tonight and get you some dimensions. By the way, where are you located Sierra Skydog? A fellow LSA builder is curious. I'm located in Wichita, KS.

I just looked at your profile and see that you are in Bishop, CA. A long way from Wichita, KS, but I've been through Bishop a couple of times. My uncle used to live in Mammoth Lakes.

Thanks David that would be great. Ya I figured he might be in Mexico. If I ever get out your way I would love to drop in and see your build. Not happening any time soon tho

Approximately 9.25" tall centerline , 27.5" wide with 3.5" height on sides. I can't get a good measurement on the radius, sorry.

I measured mine at 9 1/8" tall in the middle and 27 3/4" wide. See pictures with measuring tape shown. Sides were 3 1/2" high like Frank reported.

Perfect thanks guys…I’ll forward that to Panel Planer, and let you know how it goes.

Are you happy with Panel Planner? Looks great but not an inexpensive program. Worth it?

The panel planner I’ve been using is free and pretty easy—it’s at hangarflying.com . I forwarded LSA measurements there but still no LSA template. They do have Model 4 and Model 5 as well as Patrol templates. I’ve been using the Patrol template as it’s pretty close to the same size. I’ve spent a surprising amount of time clicking and dragging instruments around! Just enter what instrument you want in the search bar, then click and drag the icon up to the panel. It automatically scales to match panel size. It’s not a perfect app but I found it useful and fun to see what fits and how it looks

Thanks ,I have been using Hangar Flying. There is a more sophisticated one called Panel Planner from 1MileUp that looks fantastic but it's $500! I thought you were using that one.

                      Thanks for the response.

Hangarflying.com now has the template for the Bearhawk LSA—It’s free and pretty fun drawing up a dream panel
