  • boot cowl tunnel overlap

Fitting the boot cowl pieces that were pre drilled from the factory now. fit is really good but i’m not clear on how to overlap the steel tunnel piece with the aluminum cover behind it. The way the part is made, it wants the tunnel piece to be above the aluminum cover, but we are thinking the better way for an airflow and exhaust ingress POV is to have the tunnel overlap the cover below. i have assembled it both ways and each has its issues.

the photos show my preferred overlap, but as you see, the fit of the side cowl pieces has a discontinuity that would be much better if i overlapped the other way. what are kit builders doing here? my preference is to go with it as pictured and rework the tunnel step to align the parts better.

    thanks

Hello, I'm trying to figure out the correct positioning of the lower boot cowl extension piece. Specifically what the correct layering process is where the tunnel and the boot cowl extension are connected to the curved former at station B. My best guess is that the layering process, from top to bottom, should be:

I had the same questions. Maybe the thread above will help.
