  • Patrol .025 Rib Lightening Hole Flanges

I must be totally missing it, but I can't find the spec for the lightening hole flanges on the .025 nose and center ribs on Patrol Drawing No. 3. On my LSA plans, it's clearly called out "Flange 3/8 x 30°".

Its listed in the middle of the page 3/8 x 30* in 6 places .025 ribs only. The arrow points to lightning hole A.

On my LSA drawings, it is. There's no such notation on my Patrol drawing. What's the date on your Drawing No. 3? Mine is dated 10-6-2000.

While you're looking at your drawing, does the oval hole get flanged also?

              Papa,
What is your ser# and revision date. The revision date is probably the difference. I think the 10-6-2000 is when he first drew them up and are the same for all. My ser# is 254 and rev is 10-11-08 on that page and it looks just like X'N's.

I'm having trouble understanding what (6 places) refers to.

Can you provide a little more input? I think I'm missing some context to your question.

Plans updated in 2008 with the 'Flange 3/8 x 030 deg .025 ribs only (six places)'. Lightening holes are A-F, with A-D on main ribs (fwd to aft) and E and F on nose ribs (fwd to aft). A-F = six letters = six places. The screenshot below gives chamfer info from the wing rib forming doc found elsewhere on the site. The indicated chamfer width on the block produces the 3/8" and 1/4" nominal width lightening flange.

Thank you so much a-f = 6 lol I never would have guessed that. I've done all my rib lightning hole flanges 10 years ago and just noticed that notation now.
