My project recently pivoted and I find myself the proud owner of a well-outfitted Patrol fuselage, SN 12. It fits crosswise in the hangar behind the 140, where it will sit while I finish up the wings at home. The price was right and I couldn't pass it up.
Over the years I've been acquiring materials thinking I'd be scratch-building the fuselage, so now most of that pile will become available for sale. I'm not ready to post an official classified, but wanted to plant the seed here in case there's a Patrol scratch-builder out there who might be in the market. This includes items like an Avipro tubing kit, undrilled wing struts, and a box full of beautiful weldments from Dallas Shell including gear legs, rudder pedals, control sticks, wing and gear leg fittings, elevator weldments, and other odds and ends.
Needless to say, this project leaped years ahead in an instant, despite - or perhaps because of - my slow progress. It's a nice shot of motivation and I'm excited to seeing this thing come together. Given the hangar wait lists are 5+ years long in these parts, I should probably start thinking about that! There will be some challenges such as matching up my wings to the existing fuselage and strut fittings, but I'm hopeful any issues can be resolved.
