  • Routing of fuel line to fuel valve

    I have been routing the fuel lines to the fuel valve on my Patrol. With the supplied mount the inlet ports to the fuel valve are in the same plane as tubes (see photo below). To run the fuel lines I will have to run down and then up to the valve thereby creating a low spot in the fuel line (about 1/2 - 3/4") just before the fuel valve. My options are to leave it or lower the valve and gascolator until the line runs straight across. To do this I would just have to remake the supplied bracket. It also looks like I would still have clearance from the belly pan behind the tunnel. What have others done here?

    This second photo shows the fuel line with about a 1/2" "U" dip in it.

    It can be tight around the inlets to the fuel valve John. Sometimes 90 degree fittings allow the lines to run without lowering the fuel valve. Sometimes there is enough room to position the valve to get enough clearance for the fittings. Lowering the height of the aluminum valve bracket (and the gascolator also) is also an option. You just do not want to lower it so much it will interfere with the boot cowl sheet metal. Mark

      John;

      Your mounting plate for the valve/gascolator to is attached to the top of your fuselage tubing at same level as your floor using the tabs that your floor will mount to. I have a 2017 fuselage. The mount attached the gascolator so its positioned to the bottom of these tubes. It seems to me that you could move your valve/gascolator mounting plate under the tubing.

        Thanks Brooks. I think I am going to add a spacer between the gascolator and the platform to move the inlets just below the plane of the bottom of the tubes. That will basically put mine where yours is. I will then remake the bracket a 3/4” lower.

            Everyone does it a bit different but this worked out well for me on my Patrol. I slightly elevated the fuel valve but the bezel will sit just above my Baltic Birch floorboards. The gascolator is on a small standoff and the drain just protrudes below the boot cowl..
