Patrol windshield attachment

The Bearhawk Patrol Book shows the windshield held in place by tabs on T14 tubes at section B-P. There is, however, only a single tab to which the windshield may be affixed at this section. Instead there's a window jamb that must be drilled to accept screws and nuts to hold the windshield. The plan shows the windshield on the inside of this jamb/trim strip but there's not a lot of
room in there to get a nut if assembled this way, but the trim strip appears to be designed to go outside the windshield. How did you guys do it?

The windshield sides go on the outside of that aluminum former. Drill bigger holes than the #6 or #8 screws, Use a piece of nylon line or rubber fuel line around the screws to help protect the holes in the plexi from cracking with expansion & contraction of the plexi and steel. Then the aft edge is covered by a trim strip.

I just finished this install. I installed per
the drawing in the Bearhawk
book. I put a nut plate in the tab shown and will put rivets in the other tabs. I used #6 screws through the windshield and into the former. It worked out well putting the windshield inside the former as shown in the drawing so
no additional trim piece is required. If you send me a PM I can send you a series of pictures of my install.

As Mark stated, the kit is designed for the windshield on the outside of the former. If you compare to the drawing image shown, the only difference will be the .032 layer of aluminum on the inside, as supplied by Avipro. This provides a full length surface to lay and seal against. Adding a trim over the outside finishes it off and provides again a full surface area to capture the 'glass, and typically rolls inside to finish the entire edge. (also the aluminum window former as cut and popped into place by Avipro is cut to fit as installed, not out over the top)
