  • FYI...Patrol Brakes

This past summer I had returned the brake cylinders that came with my Q/B kit #79 delivered July of 2023. At the time there was an issue in using Bob's cylinders for multi-brake installation and Virgil offered to swap them out to those of use who had them. The replacements were/are Matco MCMC-4 cylinders. I am okay with that! In addition in the package of cylinders that Virgil sent out there was a pack of brake pedal travel limiters along with instructions for install to the brake pedals. The purpose is to limit possibility of over-center situation with a bad cylinder and full rudder deflection. Guess these are mandatory on the BH4 and BH5. What I did find out after talking with Virgil is that they are not required on a Patrol due to the different geometry of the pedal setup in the Patrol...Virgil said he has tested the Patrol for that possibility and it cannot happen, therefore not required. That particular note was missing on the install instructions.

So, after all the above words, if you have these limiters and you are building a Patrol...you don't need them, save yourself the work. That's about all I know.

    Build on!
