  • trim tab travel

I have connected the trim system in my 5 but with full travel of the trim wheel the turnbuckle limits further trim movement. When trimming the opposite direction the trim horn hits the rear bar. Also the tabs travel upward way more than downward. I have reads that the trim is very sensitive on the 5. What degrees of movement should I expect on the tabs for full nose up and full nose down?
    Thanks, Bruce

Since I'm flying a 4 I can't speak to the 5, but I would be surprised if you use more than a quarter turn of the wheel from center, fore and aft. Half a rotation total.

You will have far more up travel than down travel. In a flight you will not make more than 1/2 a rotation in either direction. In the five the trim is much more progressive than it is in the four, especially early A model fours. I would not call it touchy but it is responsive. Rig the trim tabs and system neutral with the elevators in neutral position.
