  • Future builder in Tokyo Japan

Currently Living in Tokyo Japan and finishing up my private pilots license, I have almost 38 hours all in Cessna 172s. I anticipate moving back to the US soon at which time I will establish a shop and start building.

I own plans for a Cozy MKIV which I I think is a great airplane and wanted to build but I started thinking about the type of flying and things I want to do with the airplane.... and the aircraft which looks like the best option for me is the Bearhawk.

I bought a set of previously owned Bearhawk plans... I am studying them now.

I grew up in the Rocky Mountain Northwest of the United States. I want to be able to take my father and my son to some nice mountain airstrips for fly fishing and camping.

Seems like the members of this community are a great bunch of people and I hope to benefit from everyone's experience, wisdom, and knowledge.

Lots of options with the Bearhawk, quick build or plans built, 4 cylinder or 6 cylinder engines, fixed pitch or constant speed prop. You can go minimal or all out and have a great plane either way. The Bearhawk has short and rough field abilities many planes just don't have. The Cozy is a fast cruise airplane but it won't handle strips the Bearhawk can.
