  • Hello Bearhawk Family

Plans 1401. Building a 4 place from scratch. I live in the Charlotte NC area and was employed several years ago at the same place as the great Jared Yates. I am a professional pilot and will be moving to a new piece of equipment soon and needed a reserve project. I was watching a Facebook group of another friend building a Kitfox and thought, building an airplane would make a great reserve project. So here I am.

I have been researching and reading lots over the last 3 months while getting the workshop in order. I cut the tip rib profile and form blocks and plan to build the nose rib cutting blocks this week.

I have built houses before but never an airplane (obviously ). Between Russ, Eric, Dave, and everyone else that has written about or shot videos showing the progress, I know I can do this!

Hari is near Raleigh. He's got a 4-place he's working on. Don't hear much from him here, sadly. I believe he's still working on a Sube conversion for his.

Welcome Parish, though I make no claims of greatness. You should get in touch with EricP, since he's working at the same place at times has built while on reserve. And I'd still like to get together with you (and Eric) one of these days when we can do some flying. For some reason I keep taking sections of the airplane apart for one reason or another, and surprise myself by how long it takes to put it back together. This time it's the cowling.

I think the urge to take it apart and build it again hits us all at some point!!
