  • Texas Patrol Build

Hello everyone, I've been lurking for a while and finally pulled the trigger on Patrol #329. I plan on building it as time permits with my son. We are both pretty excited about it and can't wait to get started. I am pretty mechanically capable, but this is my first time building a plane, so this should get interesting. Looks to be a little different from rebuilding cars... I live on the southwest side of Houston. When I looked on the Builders Map, there seems to be a few Bearhawks in the vicinity, so I hope to meet some of the builders at some point. I will probably be referring back here frequently looking for answers, so hope I don't ask to many dumb questions.

Welcome aboard! You and your son are in for a lot of fun, with some occasional frustration along the way. When those frustrations hit, be sure to check in here with the folks who have already done what you're stuck on. Just remember - you eat the elephant one bite at a time. Same for building the plane - it's one small step at a time, until it's done and you're ready to fly.

    Good luck, and have fun!

Welcome Brad, I used to live in the Houston area (Kingwood) but now live in Lafayette, LA. (A bunch of us Bearhawk builders are here in the this area!)

      Good luck with the build!

I don't know if I mentioned it, but one of my Navy buddies is from Lafayette. Great guy to be around. Tom Landry is his name. We always joked about his relationship to the coach. 😁

Is he also a homebuilder? Should invite him along to join in the bearhawk fun down here in South Central Louisiana!

Not that I'm aware of. Haven't spoken to him in 20 yeas, but it's one of many good memories I have of those days. :-)

Deftone, when did you live in Kingwood ? I graduated high school from there in 92.
