  • Potential Builder in Texas

Hello, I am currently flying a Maule but am looking at buying a kit from Mark. I would probably go the Patrol route but I was curious as to if any of you have financed the kit. I know there are some companies out there that do it, but just curious if anyone on here had any real world experience doing it.

    Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Nice to have another Texan. Sorry I don't have experience with the financing but there are lots of smart guys on here that might be able to help.

      Welcome Aboard, Tx!

I would think that Mark is the resident expert on kit financing. At Oshkosh last year I swung by EAA's affiliate financier. aircraft-kit-and-materials-financing The Patrol Kit was not on their list.

I came away with the feeling that the EAA affiliate's risk management method was to only finance kits that have been widely established (100+ kits flying????). I assume they want a large enough market in order to assess and liquidate an unfinished kit.

Welcome to the forum. I, too, am flying a Maule (MX-7-180A) while building. I think it'll be good preparation for the Bearhawk Experience.

Good luck with your aircraft choice!

Brooks, that was the feeling I got too. I talked to those folks yesterday and there have to be 3 for sale in the US for them to establish a basis on the value. If there was one for sale I would just buy it!

Where about in TX are you Sebastian?

How far along are you? Do you know any of the guys that hang out at LaPorte? I am in Montgomery just north of Houston a ways.

TJ - I have spoken with both Air Fleet Capital and NAFCO over the years. If you want my help to make something like that happen - let me know. Mark

The only person I know at La Porte is Gideon @ La Porte Flight Line.

I would say about 75 percent complete. I'm in hope of having it flying at the end of the year or early next. Really depends on the amount of time I get to work on it.

Are you closer to Montgomery or Lake Conroe?

I guess I am closer to the lake, only about 10 minutes from Papas.

Mark, I will look them up and if I have any issues I will let you know.
