Hi all- my name is Tim. Just got my Bearhawk B plans about a week ago. hope to be starting ribs in about a week or so. I am in Orlando.
I have worked as an AMT for about 4 years so im hoping that will help. Grew up working in my dads machine shop- so I hope that helps too.
Went to local tech school for a semester to get good at Tig welding-- hope that helps too. ( I have used the CRAP out of my welder for work since
getting that skill-- never thought I would use it so much ! ) Im starting on the wings first because I can do that without too much expense.
I plan to order the tube kit form Avi at some point. Still deciding if I should buy or build the spar webs.
Been wanting to build a plane for 30 years---- I dont like watching TV sports- (hate football) so why not build something ?
Seems like i mostly build stuff all the time anyway. I feel like I may have accumulated enough skills to take a shot at it. Im sure there will be
plenty of head scratchers. Just want to avoid any mistakes that I cant reverse or that paint me into a corner.
Been helping my cousin restore his 12-th or 13-th antique plane. (1934 Fairchild C8C- round engine) he is almost done- about to do engine assy.
(Ceconite fabric is a pain in butt to get perfect- apparently )
Glad to have a resource of like minded folks.
Tim
