  • New member here. Any owners/builders in the Southeastern US?

    Hi all,
I think I just rediscovered something. I've been looking at planes and wanting to build for many years. Actually since 1990 to be exact. I remembered the Bearhawk. Really impressive, it was a 4 place STOL design and really more than I felt like I needed. And that was really it for a long time. Got married, raised a family and now finally beginning to revisit the airplane situation again.

So I begin researching again and WOW at the choices. And as I was going through what was out there, I ran into the same thing over and over in the STOL designs. They were really slow and had limited useful load. And most were kits only, no plans or even partial plans built. It was pretty disappointing.

But then I rediscovered the Bearhawk plane(s) and WOW!! I'm just blown away. There's the Patrol and the LSA. But I may wind up with a Companion.

I do have lot's of questions that I will ask in the appropriate forums. I have builder support near me in EAA 976 Carrolton, GA and I have a friend who is a certified TIG welder. I am concerned about cost but I'll address that elsewhere.

Anyway, pleased to meet you all and I'm looking forward to reading the posts and learning. I'm located in East Central Alabama, off of I20 near the GA line.

Greetings Paul. Sounds like you're doing the right research. Yes having a plans option was a part of my decision too. Also knowing the designer it's still actively involved in the product was a big selling point.

The search feature works pretty well on this forum, I would encourage you to take advantage of it. Otherwise ask away! I know I have...
