Hello all, my name is Jake and I'm starting to research the Model 5 as my first kit build.
I'm not a pilot yet but have spent a few hours in the air with my dad in his 182 while he owned it (it was totaled by a hailstorm at hesler-noble field) and I will be helping him build his Rans S21 kit that is supposed to be arriving in July.

Currently I work as a millwright which means I'm almost constantly traveling so my plan to work on my PPL is to do online ground school and then plan on being home for 2-3 weeks and see how many hours I can accrue with an instructor.


I look forward to learning all that I can about these planes as well as being part of the community

I sure hope so, my dad and I both are perfectionists and I think it will really show once we build the kits.

I'll try to meet him, thanks! I'm not sure when I'll be back in town, I'm currently working a job in Kentucky and I should be here until Mid February unless the company sends me to another site.

I certainly know where you live. When I wasn't deployed Gulfport was my base as a Navy Seabee. Long,long time ago. The area has changed since the '70's.
