  • Good day all

    Hello fellow builders/strugglers/battlers

I have joined in on the fun and am in the process of constructing a Model A BH 4 place.

I reside down in the good old land of New Zealand and am so far thoroughly enjoying the process.
I have stalked the forum for a little while now and have gained some amazing points, tips and tricks from all of the super knowledgable folk who give out information willingly and with much detail.
    Thank you!

The main goal of the plane will be to get the family into some hidden gems around the country and to go on a few backcountry hunting missions with friends.

I am in the process of rebuilding a 470 cont which will be converted to be injected with electronic ignition etc.

I am in the process of deciding on what prop to put on the front and any advice or passed experience would be greatly appreciated. (there is a lot more info out there for Lyc engines but I'm struggling with the cont research.)

Ill be covering the plane in corsair blue oratex with white accents.

I have started to manufacture the gull wing door conversion that a few people have done and have shaped the new doors to suit.

Other than that Ill be putting some big ol 35" Abw on it. This is purely a guilty pleasure and for my missions will not only offer me some awesome insurance but to be honest I just reckon a little ol' bush plane with massive tyres looks awesome! (maybe i played with too many tonka trucks when I was young) (maybe me mum dropped me)

Any way I will be reaching out for advice as I struggle through the engine and prop side of this build which is unfortunately not my strong point of knowledge.

Thanks again to everyone who posts up their knowledge it has been an awesome reference for a lot of the things I have had to do!

    Cheers

Welcome- could be economical to look at aircraft salvage for propeller- maybe one from a C-182 or bonanza could be overhauled.

Welcome Bruce, are you scratch building. You are going to love the 4-place. With 35" wheels you won't have to look hard for landing spots!

Heya all thanks for the kind welcome. Thanks Paul for that advice I had not thought about heading in that direction but will definitely start exploring those options. Its quite tricky here in New Zealand with our small population of flyers but will definitely keep my eyes and ears out.
