  • Bearhawk fuel caps

Just wanted to share a learning from today about the fuel caps.

After a few weeks use, my Bearhawk fuel caps both seized. Upon disassembly and inspection, they were both found to be badly galled, and required quite a bit of work to clean up. The gas has driven all the anti-seize compound out of the gallery (presumably into the fuel tank?). I am going to replenish with a different kind of anti-sieze this time (plug grease) which is hopefully more fuel-resistant, and monitor the situation. It could well be a user-fuelcap interface issue.

You could use fuellube grease sold at aircraft spruce
