I'm posting this to Product Reviews since I think the outcome is more important/interesting than the problem. My R&B O-360 had a typical amount of metal in the screen/filter at 3 hours but it increased instead of decreased at 10hrs. Some of the particles were aluminum. After a phone discussion with Mike at R&B, we let it go another until 20 hrs when it was clear that it was continuing to make metal. Reality accepted and after another call to R&B, we removed it, loaded it into the truck and headed off to Virginia.
Mike disassembled the engine, diagnosed and fixed the problem (failed piston pin cap on #3), reassembled it and shipped it back. All in less than 2 weeks! This remarkable level of response and service turned an unpleasant experience into a fairly simple removal/re-installation project (and a chance to check out the Companion that Bob is building
). I'd also note that the root of the problem seems to have been a piston kit manufacturing defect and had nothing to do with the engine build. I can't complement them enough on such a terrific level of service and amazing turn-around time.
