Fabric treatment around tailsurface hinges

I think the elevator and rudder hinges are basically the same on all three aircraft so I was wondering how everyone was terminating the fabric around each hinge. As it is, it looks like about 2.25" of unsupported fabric directly behind each, top and bottom. Seems like potentially a large gap to be open to the airflow. I was thinking about tacking a .032 x 1" x 4" strip behind each so the fabric has something to be glued to. Worth it or will an extra "doily" be adequate.

The short answer for me, use little metal brackets to glue the fabric onto, so you can have a tight-tolerance, neat and tidy termination around the hinge.

You need to be sure to really damage the metal surface with coarse sandpaper, so the glue has something to hold onto.

I used a thin piece of scrap aluminium, which is held in place by the fabric tension. It's a single piece which wrapped around the main tube.

This is how Dallas Shell and I do the same thing on the 4 Bearhawks. .032 , 4130 steel.
