    Hi everyone

    I know that Bob has put skis on his LSA, but I haven't seen where anyone has put skis on a 4 place. I plan on keeping my 4 place at my home strip when it is done, and given I live in Canada (Eastern Ontario) we get a little snow from time to time, so skis are going to be a must if I want to fly in winter.

    A few questions;

    1, Has anyone put skis on a 4 place? If so:
    a. What kind of skis?
    b. Where did you put the lugs for the ski leading and trailing edge wires?
    c. What thickness material did you use?

    2. I would really like penetration skis (where the tire sticks out the bottom) so I can land at local airports that have pavement only. Any opinions on the various products out there (TrickAir, Datum,
    etc?)

    That's about it for now.

    Cheers all

    TrickAir closed shop last winter due to the sudden death of the company's owner, but they were recently acquired. I spoke with them at Oshkosh this year, and they're excited to get back to work. They are going to be my choice, mainly because they're local for me. I would expect it to be comparable to the one they have for the B-model Maules.

      Airglass wheel penetration skis are fairly reasonable. But they have to mount/weld the ski mount brackets to your gear legs. I ask to borrow their jig....or get a drawing of the jig....not! On my PA18 gear the cables connect to the 3/8" gear bolts front and back side of the gear mounts. I've seen Maule M7's with the cables set up the same....but. With the Bearhawk gear leg fairing the rear cable needs to mount aft. Maybe mount a cable mount tab at the intersection of the step and fairing.

        We're in the process of installing Datum skis on Tyson's four place. I'll get some pictures together when it's done.

          Thanks for the responses so far, everyone. Looking forward to the pics with the Datum skies.
