  • Clearance between cables and airframe

I'm working on my trim system and have ran my trim cables. I need to install some fairleads but don't want to install any that aren't needed.

What is the minimum acceptable clearance between the cables and the airframe?

On our Tri-Pacer, there is a place where three cables(elevator and flap) just touch a cross tube below the baggage compartment, and Piper just put a rub strip there about an inch and a half wider than the three cables. There are three pulleys at the next station forward, and perhaps not enough room for pulleys at this location.

Thanks for the idea Zac. I put in two fairleads and a couple tabs to attach a strip of nylon to because there wasn't enough room for a fairlead.
