Oiling/Greasing Elevator and Flap hinges

We've talked about this in the past and I liked Battsons method of greasing the hinges with a syringe. Made more sense to me than using oil or installing grease zirks. Today I had a 'Aha!' moment while prepping my chainsaws. The grease gun used to lube the nose sprocket on a saw is perfect for lubing the elevator and rudder bearings. I don't really care what grease I use in my saw so I'll pick a appropriate grease for the hinges and use it in my saw. Two birds, one stone.

We think alike, Jon! I have looked at grease needles in the past. Your vintage unit is classic. A google search turned up this on Amazon....amazing.

Good find Brooks. Any local farm/ranch store carries a similar grease gun in their chainsaw section but they are about $20.

Sooo what is the appropriate grease? I like Brooks's find, it looks real handy, besides being a sucker for a new tool.

I'd pick whatever grease you want. I'm going to go with a marine grease because my plane will spend lots of time outside and I don't want the moisture to degrade the grease so much.

The tool Brooks found on Amazon is the same thing I have and can be found at any local store that carries chain saws. However, Amazon is so much easier so I plan to order one...thanks Brooks!

Another option is a rubber tipped grease gun tool. Is used to grease universal joints that have the concave grease fitting.
