  • Skinning wings before riveting ribs

I have my spars and ribs assembled and cleco'd together and was pondering continuing with the skinning process before riveting the ribs to the spars. I would appreciate any opinions you all have.

    Pros:
-It allows me disassemble anything that I need to, just in case.
-It makes the disassembly/deburring/dimpling process a one step thing.
-Primarily, It means I can take the ribs with me on work trips and deburr AND dimple them in hotel rooms rather than spending precious garage time doing that. (All my ribs were flanged in hotel rooms and rib stiffener angles and attach angles were also deburred in hotel rooms)

    Cons:
It will require me to buy about 1000 clecos. Not a bad thing since Yard Store sells them for $0.38 ea. when you buy them in that qty a4-nd I could probably resell them for that.

    Thoughts?

No, do not cleco and skin ! Your holes will be off as they do not hold tight enough . Stinger

Definitely not, Clecos are not strong and can give some movement. I agree with Stinger.
