Rotisserie Design

I had a rotisserie design that I was using but it was not really easy to lock the fuselage in any given position. Here is my redesign finished today. I used engine stands from Harbor Freight that were on sale at $39 each as supports. The rotating mechanism uses a PTO drive shaft from some AG equipment. The rotation position is locked by a spring loaded pin engaging an $8 40 tooth gear sprocket. it works very well and quickly gives a secure position lock.

Nice, I like the spring loaded latch; mine's a bit cruder - used an old saw blade to lock it in place (beware, they warp easily upon welding!) The rest was either cheap remnants fro​m the steel supply shop or leftover wood. The platform in the center has a couple wheels and also holds commonly used parts.

I'd recommend larger wheels than I used, it would make going up the threshold into the garage a bit easier.

That is a lot higher tech than mine. For the wings I just used scrap steel from the wing crates. Mostly 1 inch square, with some 1X2 from the wing crate that bolts to the crate wing rib supports. No U joint on the wing rotisserie. I also used perforated steel tube (similar to how Grog used it) to raise and lower the wings. I can put the wings on the fuselage myself. I had help removing the wings from the crates originally, since then I have done everything, safely, alone. Even drilling the wings to the fuselage. I will keep them in the hanger when I get a hanger.

Here is ours. Very happy with how it turned out.
