Magneto harness installation

Hello all,
I can't seem to find documentation on installing the magneto harnesses, which probably means its very simple and these are silly questions, but here we go. For reference, I have the Slick 6393 and 6350 on my O-540.

1) does it matter which mag is connected to the top or bottom spark plug?

2) the contacts on back of the mag aren't labeled, but one of the wires is labeled as cylinder 1. Which orientation is the cap installed to match the cyl 1 wire to the correct contact?

Thanks, that was very helpful. I must have taken the harness cap on and off three times without realizing the screw holes weren't lined up. Even this morning, I test fit the screws and they were lined up, purely by accident. I also didn't realize until you said it that the harness caps were labeled top and bottom and which cylinder number they belonged to.
