Safety wiring AN O ring fittings.

I have a few large -10AN O ring fittings in my fuel system without a fuel line securing the rotation of the fitting. I think they should be safety wired. I was able to drill them for the wire, no problem, but finding something to anchor the safety wire is an issue.

About 4 inches away I do have a few AN3 bolts currently with nylons. I am thinking of using drilled bolts and castle nuts, and using the hole for the cotter pin to both anchor the safety wire, and secure the nut.

Bad idea?

I believe that castle nuts are typically used in situations where the bolt will rotate. Is it possible to reverse the direction of the bolts with nylon nuts. That way you could use a drilled head for the safety wire.

The bolts/nuts are at a 90 degree orientation to the AN fittings. There are 3 bolts, I could use 2 castle nuts and drilled bolts and reverse the rotation to prevent rotation. None of these bolts are structural.

I drilled the edge off an oversized washer to create a location for a safety wire “tie off” and then bent the washer’s edge. Is it possible to bend the washer’s edge to have sufficient spacing to use the bolt closest to the corner. Sorry I’m out of town and can’t post any photos. I hope the words are sufficient to describe my solution

Yeah that sounds like it would work as well.
