Cabin Door Question

Mark Dickens

Companion QB
I started work on the lower cabin doors and noted the the aft edge of the door skins have a notch cut out of them (see below). Now I never got a drawing for the doors (in fact, I'm missing drawings 31-33, so maybe one of them was a drawing for the door?)...can anyone tell me what is this notch for?

Never mind, I figured it out. That's where the latch goes...duh. Still it would be nice to actually have a full set of plans...

"The Bearhawk Patrol Book" cam with my Patrol plans. It is about 80 pages of lots of stuff. It shows how to build doors along with other stuff like seats, cowls, wing tips, windshield and its fairing, fuel system.

I was thinking that door detail was probably not on the plans, though I don't have a set to check. Usually that would be Beartracks or the boom which was consolidated from the Beartracks.

Thanks all, I figured it all out. Still hard to think that aircraft doors aren't important enough to merit a drawing. Oh well

30/31 is flap lever and cable details. 17 has some on details formers and sills, 33 has rear door details (hinges & latches). Bearhawk book or other sources might have more...

The photos of Virgil's finished 5 [https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1ovGUVExqdhaExfB9r4XoRmFy15rX-kkM], the manual photos for the 5 [https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1baLuNlj16BTf94ep_GOOqIwyEQ-5bPu9] and a few well documented build logs have been answering most of my questions lately.
Thanks. I had assumed most of the missing pages related to the BH 4 and 5, but I just couldn't assume away the doors. The interesting thing is that there apparently are multiple construction drawings in existence. The drawings that Bob sells you, the drawings that the factory uses, the information in all of the "community" sources, etc. I wonder why the factory has a different set of instructions for the QBs than what you get from Bob...

The Bob/Virgil thing is an ongoing problem which will hopefully have some resolution one day. Meanwhile, I would prioritize as follows:
If you are building from a kit, ask your technical questions of Virgil and his resources (his wing manual, his website, him, Peter, etc). If you are building from plans, ask Bob/plans/Beartracks. They are separate sources at this point.
Ultimately you have to take responsibility for your build and get information from all of the resources. The Bearhawk is still a long way from being an easy/passive assembly project. It is a matter of taste whether that's a good thing or a bad thing but for sure it is a true thing.

Mark warned me at the time I bought the kit not to expect a Vans level experience, so that was fine. I'm not complaining, because I didn't expect much in the way of documentation and wasn't disappointed. My point in the first post was really to see if I was missing some drawings (apparently not). I was surprised that something like a door wasn't on anywhere on a drawing. When I complete this kit, I will have built three kits so this isn't my first rodeo. All of them are/were my responsibility. That isn't a new idea for me
