    Auxiliary fuel transfer rate

An observation and question for those 4 place Bearhawk owners with Auxiliary fuel tanks. I rarely fill or use the two aux tanks in my 4 place. But last week I thought I would fill them and gauge the time it took to transfer the 11 gallons in each aux tank to the main tanks. Aux electrical...

    Ibex dry Lake bed

This is a favorite spot where the Utah Backcountry Pilots meet a couple times a year. It’s located in Western Utah close to the Nevada border. Last weekend my wife and I watched the Ring of Fire Eclipse from Ibex. Today I stopped by for lunch. Terry

    Bearhawks in Idaho's backcountry

There were at least two 4 place A models in the Idaho backcountry this week. Mine (pictured) and one from Nampa, ID. Credit to S. Bynum for the photo of me on final to 3U2.

Trim cable and aileron carry through turn buckle rubbing

Try as I may, I cannot keep the trim cable from rubbing on the aileron carry through turn buckle. I've routed the trim cable below the carry through turn buckle and above the carry through turn buckle with no success either way. I am certainly open to suggestions on this. Terry

    Bearhawk 4-Place N255z

A lurker here and this may be cheating, because it's not officially "complete" (awaiting a part from AviPro, paperwork from the FAA and a few minor adjustments). BUT all the big pieces are here. So if it doesn't meet the "completed" criteria - you have my permission to delete it. You'll...

Possible horizontal stab. abrasive boot source

Aircraft Spruce, in the Cessna Parts section, lists Part Number 1232040-5 for a Boot at a cost of $105.95 each. A quick Google search shows that part number to be an abrasion boot for Cessna aircraft.

    Flap cables rubbing

I'm about to attach the flap cables on my four place quick build and have come across a "head scratcher." With the cables connected to the flap lever and ran rearwards they rub where the rear spar attaches to the fuselage. Especially on the right side when it goes through the external fairlead...

    Distance between main landing gear

I am looking for a satisfactory measurement in inches between the brake rotors (Cleveland brakes). I have measured a couple of flying 4 place BH and they both measured about 63 inches. Whereas mine measures 57 inches, that on a non-flying 4 place BH with an 0540 and wings installed. Comments...

    Wing strut attachment drill jig

Several years ago when the Sorensen brothers built their 4 place Bearhawk here in Utah they machined a jig to be used in drilling the wing struts for the aluminum attachments. It has been passed around and used in the builder community. I am about to hang my wings and wonder if anyone knows...

    0-540 Throttle and Mixture bracket

On the 540 engine, with a Facet carburetor, what is a source for the throttle and mixture control bracket? Thanks, Terry

    Seeking 0-540 engine hanging tips

Made a valiant attempt today at hanging the 0-540 on my 4 place BH, with limited success. I was following the same process used in hanging an 0-360 engine starting with the upper right mount (as viewed from the pilot seat). That went fine. Next the upper left that took a great amount of...

0-540 Mags - Slicks or Bendix

Rounding the corner on hanging the engine and wanted to get opinions on magnetos. I was hoping on EMag Air coming through with their much talked about (for the last three years) six cylinder PMag, but can't wait much longer. I've read the differences between Slick vs Bendix, but wanted to hear...
