the plate is on both sides of the splice, it is a bit of an over kill, but strong. I spoke to Bob and he was ok with it.

Hi Nic, I started with the capstrip from the inside of the rear spar for 12ft and then added the rest to the tip, I then took the same material I used 2023T3 sheet that I cut the capstrips from and made a doubler with the lightening holes lining up with the rear spar's. I made one for the inside and the outside , little overkill I think, but the wing was not a place that I wanted to take any chances. Before I did this I checked it with Bob and He had no problem with it and said the 2023 T3 is better than the 6061 or normal hardware stock.
