Cable guards

I wanted to ask more about the pulley guards but figured it better to start a clean thread.

I’m making the guards for the flap pulleys. What material is acceptable for these? The kit provided steel, Google said 0.25 or 0.32 aluminum is typical, I couldn’t find it in AC 43-13 or 23-17. Is there some other reference I should be looking at?

My current version is 0.025 thick 2024 Aluminum and the clearance to the pulley I’m shooting for 1/16” (each side and past the end) clearance (less than 1/2 cable dia). That sound about right or did I make some nice templates for the steel version?

The kit provided steel? In what form? My BH5 kit only came with .25 aluminum. I bought .32 and .4 sheets from Aircraft Spruce. I just used the .25 aluminum since there's no stress on the guards, just guiding the cable from jumping out of the track.

The ones in the wing are magnetic, I’d assume 4130 left over from tank straps?
I was thinking the same thing though - no load/no stress so aluminum should be ok?

Appreciate the plans reference Paul, I missed that.
