Bearhawk 4-Place N3xh

Original 4-place Bearhawk. Plans #246 bought in 1999. Scratch built except for Avipro quick build wings. First flight 12-17-24. Modifications include four composite doors, Hoerner wing tips, trim wheel moved to the floor with a console covering the trim wheel and flap mechanisms. Engine is a 300HP parallel valve IO-540 with 83" 3-blade MT prop.

I built a 2x2 and plywood frame in the doorway. Hot glued 3/8th divinycell foam to the plywood and layed up the outside carbon cloth in place. Removed the door and layed up the inside.

I understand that! 40 hours was just barely enough for me to thoroughly complete the EAA phase 1 tasks. Don’t rush it and try to enjoy it! I’ll see you in March or April or May.

Laminated the door hinges into the layup, or attached mechanically? I think cargo doors will be one of my 1st improvements.

Attached hinges mechanically. At the hinge locations I cut a small square out of the foam and replaced with hardwood.

I love your paint layout, its fits the bearhawk lines well. Classic is better than modern.
