  • Spacer bar to capstrip gap tolerance

Just looking at some of the gaps between my spacer bars and capstrips and just wondering what tolerance if any there is here? The spacer bars and capstrips are going to be primed with ekoprime which will bring it in a bit but not sure what is acceptable here. I could not fit the edge of the ruler in the gap and i didnt have any feeler gauges on me to measure it properly but there is a little bit of play here.

    Thoughts?

    Thanks

My understanding is that this should be a contact condition between the cap strips and the spacers to create load cells. I used a feeler gage made from the pages of Sport Aviation. I cut up the pages into small squares and try to fit them between the gaps. They measure about .0025. If I cannot get the gage in between the parts I'm happy. I did all the parts with faying surfaces this way and am happy with the outcome. Trim the edges as they get worn. Just my .02 cents.
    Cheers

Best if they touch. But .032 is the max gap allowed per Bob as I recall. These do more than just fill up the gap. They help the cap strips give strength. Mark
